It can be a struggle to get a well-rested sleep each night. Between long work shifts and a mind full of to-do’s, the amount of time you spend tucked under the covers can be minimal. Late nights and minimal sleep can take a toll on your wellness, and we are going to unpack that in today’s blog.

Have you ever woken up and just felt off? Some might say the classic “woke up on the wrong side of the bed.” Although the saying might not be realistic, the thought sure is!

Sleepless riddled nights are no joke, and should be taken heavily into consideration when thinking about your overall wellness.

A lack of a well rested sleep can contribute to your lack of concentration and overall productivity throughout the day. That sluggish feeling you may experience after a sleepless night is a big indicator that your body may need a few more hours of shut eye.

While you are sleeping, your body is functioning to keep your immune system boosted, heal damaged cells, and recharge your cardiovascular system. A poor sleep doesn’t allow your body to go through this recovery system.

Every night, you should try to get at least 8-10 hours of sleep. To improve your sleep habits, you should first try to allow yourself for enough time to sleep.

You should also try to go to bed at the same time every day. Studies have said that going to bed before 11pm helps to improve both a good night’s sleep and the quality of that sleep.

Avoiding artificial light from a phone or TV screen is also a great way to not only improve your sleep, but help you get to sleep quicker! If you’re anything like me, I often have trouble winding down from the day and going to sleep. However, ever since I switched from using my phone before bed to reading, I have experienced a drastic improvement in my quality of sleep.

A major change to my sleep quality was my investment in a Hush Blanket! If you are not familiar with Hush Blankets, let me introduce you to the world of weighted blankets. Whether you are a late-night thinker, tosser and turner, or the night owl who can’t go to bed, this is for you!

Weighted blankets are proven to provide similar benefits to deep pressure therapy. They have shown positive results for several conditions, including autism, ADHD, and anxiety. They can help calm a restless body, reduce feelings of anxiety, and improve sleep troubles.

Say goodbye to sleepless nights! By making sleep a priority in your life, you are benefiting your overall wellbeing in ways you may not have thought of before. A good night’s sleep is key in establishing that perfect balance between your mental and physical wellness, right from the moment you wake up.
